☑ 2,6-dihydroxytoluene is a white or almost white crystalline powder, which is easy to dissolve in water and has weak acidity. It can produce ether, ester, ketone and other substances by chemical reaction. Because of 2, 6-dihydroxytoluene has many important physical and chemical properties, so it has very important applications in the chemical industry. Its application fields include synthetic resin, dyeing, medicine, pesticide, pigment, dye, hair dye, agricultural chemicals, photosensitive materials and explosives. It is one of the most important chemical intermediates, and because of its good decontamination properties In recent years, it has been widely used in shampoo, skin care products and other products. Due to the increasing development and application of its downstream products, its application market in chemical industry is constantly expanding.

☑ 2-Methylresorcinol is used commonly in dye compositions for hair color- dyed hair with equimolar parts of 2-Methylresorcinol as a color modifier and 10 primary intermediates. 2-Methylresorcinol produces red tones with p-phenylenediamines and 0-substituted p-phenylenediamines and grayer colors with N-su bstituted p-phenylenediamines. With p-aminophe- nol, an orange-brown color is produced.2-Methylresorcinol help impart color to hair. The exact color obtained will depend on the other ingredients that are used in the preparation and the starting color of the hair. These ingredients may also function as antioxidant.

☑ The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) permits Resorcinol to be used in topical acne Over-The-Counter (OTC) drug products at concentrations of up to 2% when used in combination with sulfur at levels of 3-8%. Resorcinol is also permited as active an ingredient in OTC topical analgesics and anorectal drugs. The safety of 2-Methylresorcinol and Resorcinol has been assessed by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel.
The CIR Expert Panel evaluated the scientific data and concluded that 2-Methylresorcinol and Resorcinol were safe as cosmetic ingredients. In 2006, the CIR Expert Panel considered available new data on 2-Methylresorcinol and Resorcinol and reaffirmed the above conclusion.
